Can a memorable Christmas be made with a dollar and 87 cents? Getting caught up in the commercialism of Christmas, Della and Jim begin to lose sight of the true joy of gift giving and friendship. In this classic tale, based on the short story by O. Henry, we follow the young couple on their selfless journey to make each other’s holiday dreams come true.

“The Gift of the Magi” will be presented by ArtReach at the Oxford Community Arts Center at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4 as ArtReach presents The Gift of the Magi. This is a free presentation, brought to the community by Oxford Community Arts Center as part of The Family Performance Series.

ArtReach, the theatrical and dramatic arts outreach division of The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati, is dedicated to bringing high-quality theater productions and workshops directly to schools and selected venues in order to increase student and family exposure to the arts.

The Family Performance Series is a free performance series, designed to bring quality performances of all kinds to children and their families.

This year, with the support of the Bever Family Foundation, through the Oxford Community Foundation, the program has been expanded to take some performances to community schools.

This performance of The Gift of the Magi is made possible by a grant through ArtsWave Presents, a program bringing musicians, dancers, actors and artists from Cincinnati’s arts organizations into neighborhoods for public performances, and by the thousands of people who give generously to the ArtsWave Community Campaign.
