Talawanda High School were placed in lock down for less than 30 minutes Friday morning while Oxford Police searched for a weapon that was reported to be in a vehicle on the school’s parking lot.

“We received an anonymous tip that there was a weapon in a vehicle in our parking lot,” said Holli Morrish, Talawanda’s Director of Communications and Public Relations. “We went into lock down to keep the students in, called the Oxford Police and they responded pretty quickly. We did a pretty thorough search of the parking lot and the grounds.”

No gun was found, Morrish said.

A small bag of firecrackers were found in one vehicle, according to Morrish.
