The first Southwest Ohio Conference boys golf tournament championship belongs to Talawanda High School.

The Braves captured the title last Tuesday at Weatherwax Golf Course with a score of 358, finishing ahead of Wilmington (367), Edgewood (379), Harrison (381), Ross (392), Northwest (429), Mount Healthy (552) and Little Miami (556).

The top finisher for Talawanda was Brandon Tafelski, third overall (80). Also scoring for the Braves were Curran Persinger, fourth overall (86); and Derek Whalen and Kyle Tafelski, tied for ninth (96).

Volleyball: Last Tuesday the Braves won at Harrison 25-22, 25-16, 25-18 behind the play of senior middle blocker Rachel Vidourek, who tallied 15 kills and nine blocks; junior setter Dana Lohrey, who recorded 30 assists; and senior middle blocker Laura DeWitt, who added seven kills.

The following night Talawanda knocked off Northwest at home 25-11, 25-9, 25-19. Vidourek tallied 13 kills, senior outside hitter Meghan Bruder (on her birthday) added 10 kills, Lohrey recorded 29 assists and junior libero Fran Lindley added seven digs.

Earlier this week, on Tuesday, the Braves rallied from a two-set deficit to beat Little Miami 22-25, 21-25, 25-10, 25-18, 15-11 and raise their record to 17-0 overall, 11-0 in the SWOC.
