OXFORD —
The undefeated Oxford Saws wings boys soccer team (ages 8-9) has advanced to the quarterfinals of the SAY state tournament after winning its first two tourney games last weekend in Cincinnati.
The Saws, the only Oxford-area squad remaining in the competition, scored a double-overtime victory over Fairfield in the first round last Saturday, followed by a 2-1 shootout win over Milford in the second round on Sunday to qualify for this weekend’s final games.
The Saws, who have a 15-0 record, are scheduled to play in the third round at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Mount Healthy against Fairborn. Three victories this weekend would give the Oxford team a state championship.
Players for the Saws include Nathan “Big Nate” Beck, Parker Geshan, Noah Clemens, Mason Birkemeier, Daryl Zazycki, Diego Decello, Sergio Decello, Angel Rodriguez, Davis Byrd and Kole Love. Adam Beck is the head coach.
