Oxford Police Report

An Oxford man was charged with assault on an officer of the Oxford Police Department, a fourth-degree felony, at the police station on Sept. 24. Police had stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and the man, who was a passenger, was arrested for obstructing official business after he allegedly became belligerent and refused orders to remain in the vehicle. At the station he allegedly punched an officer in the face and attempted to bite another officer while being escorted to his cell. The injured officer was transported to McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released.

A male Miami University student was charged with two counts of assault for allegedly striking two other male Miami students, who told police they were friends, in two separate incidents early in the morning of Sept. 28. According to police reports one of the reported victims told police he had been struck several times by the subject around 2:15 a.m. and one of his eyes was almost swollen shut, and the other reported victim, who had several cuts on his face, told police he was struck around 2:25 a.m. after confronting the subject about the first incident.

An Oxford man was charged with assault for allegedly striking a male Miami student in the head with a beer bottle at Brick Street Bar on the evening of Sept. 29.

An official of Phi Kappa Psi reported that someone threw lit fireworks inside the fraternity living room window, causing damage to the interior. The incident remains under investigation by the Oxford fire and police departments.

An Oxford man reported to police that his apartment on W. Chestnut Street was burglarized on the morning of Sept. 28 and that running shoes, a leather coat and a number of DVDs were missing.

A male Miami student was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs after being stopped for speeding by police early in the morning of Sept. 29 on S.Campus Ave.

A Seven Mile woman was charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired after being stopped by police on E. High Street on Sept 24.
