Oxford Holiday Festival, other events coming up

OXFORD —

The Oxford Holiday Festival will present area residents with a two-day winter wonderland from 6 to 8:30 p .m. on Friday, Nov. 30 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Oxford Uptown Parks.

Friday’s events will be held at the following times:

• 6 p.m. — Kramer, Bogan, and Marshall Elementary Choruses will perform.

• 6-8 p.m. — There will be horse drawn carriage rides, provided by Liberty Carriage, free, at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park; also, visit with Santa’s live reindeer, Reindeer and Company, Whitetail Acres Nursery.

• 6:30 p.m. — Mayor Richard Keebler “Lights up Oxford,” and the Oxford Community Band will play “Here Comes Santa Claus,” followed by holiday music. Santa will arrive by Fire truck. Children can visit with Santa at Santa’s Courtyard at West Park Place and receive a free gift.

7: p.m. — The Talawanda Middle School Choruses will perform.

7:30 p.m. — The Hillel Foundation will present the ceremony of lighting the Community Menorah.

Hot chocolate and holiday treats will be for sale.

Saturday’s events at the Oxford Community Arts Center, located at 10 S. College Ave. (parking is available there), will be held at the following times:

• 9-4 p.m. — The Holiday Craft Market, sponsored by the Talawanda Band Boosters, will feature unique handmade holiday items. Food and concessions will be available.

• 10 a.m.-noon. — A gingerbread house contest (for contestants 16 years and over) will be held. To enter the contest pick up an entry form at the TRI Community Center, 6025 Fairfield Road, or visit www.cityofoxford.org to download. Cash prizes are #100 for first place, $50 for second place and $25 for viewers choice. The gingerbread houses will be on display. Winners will be announced at 12:15 p.m.

• 11a.m.-1 p.m. — Visit with Santa, receive a free gift. There also will be chocolate dreidel making, presented by the Hillel Foundation.
