Nealy 10,000 pounds of electronic waste recycled

By Staff

OXFORD —

The City of Oxford and Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley partnered for a successful community electronics recycling event on Saturday, Nov. 10, at the former Talawanda High School.

The event brought out 101 residents who donated 9,600 pounds of computers, electronics, laptops, monitors and accessories. At the end of the four-hour event the Goodwill Stores semi-trailer was nearly filled with working and non-working e-waste.

“We are so grateful to the Oxford residents who donated electronics this past Saturday. These donations provide support for our programs and allow our Agency to provide jobs for people with disabilities,” said Amy Luttrell, president and CEO of GESMV. “Together we are helping the community be green, keeping nearly 10,000 pounds of e-waste out of the landfill.”

Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley is a participant in the Dell ReConnect program and follows the highest standards for environmental safety. The program helps GESMV provide a variety of jobs for people with disabilities in the community.

Working and non-working items accepted include computers, monitors, cell phones, hard drives, printers, toner cartridges, keyboards, mice, speakers, cords/cables, software, routers/switches, fire walls, servers and scanners. Receipts for tax purposes will be provided to those who donate.

“We were happy to collaborate with Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley and give our residents an opportunity to recycle their unwanted computers and accessories,” said Oxford environmental specialist David Treleaven.
