By Staff

SALEM, Va. —

The Miami University club football team was defeated by Copeland State-Baltimore 41-17 Saturday night in the championship game of the National Club Football Association.

Miami, which had entered the game ranked No. 1 in the nation, finished its sixth season with an 8-1 record.

“We faced a very talented team,” said Miami senior center and club president Eric Kenter, noting that his own team trailed 34-2 at halftime. “We came out really flat.

“We won the second half 15-7,” Kenter said. “It was really a tale of two halves.”

The contest marked the first-ever championship game of the National Club Football Association.
