Model train display to be open for two weekends

OXFORD —

The display dates for the 3,800-square foot model train layout at 3088 Oxford Millville Road (U.S. 27) has been expanded to include Saturday, Dec. 8 and Sunday, Dec. 9.

The display also will be open to the public Saturday, Dec. 1 and Sunday, Dec. 2. The times for all four days will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under and will include an open-house tour of the homeowner’s art collection and sports memorabilia.

Proceeds from the Dec. 1-2 exhibit will benefit The Christian Cooperative Nursery School and families living with Multiple Sclerosis. Proceeds from the Dec. 8-9 exhibit will benefit The Christian Cooperative Nursery School and Bethel A.M.E. Church renovation.

The display is not handicap accessible.

The layout, which has taken more than three and a half years to build, includes more than one and a half miles of track that can run 43 train engines. There are more than 1,500 stationary cars and trucks, more than 1,100 illuminated houses and more than 200 motorized interactive displays.

There will be free parking and a shuttle next door at Marshall Elementary School. The event is not affiliated with or sponsored by the Talawanda School District.
