Thunderstorm watch issued for region

MIAMI VALLEY —

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for much of the viewing area until this evening.

Auglaize, Butler, Champaign, Clark, Darke, Greene, Logan, Mercer, Miami, Montgomery and Preble counties are under the watch until 6 p.m.

Rain and lightning may threaten some high school football games tonight.

Some storms tonight may be strong to severe with gusty winds and hail, said Storm Center 7 meteorologist Erica Collura.

Temperatures Friday will be in the 80s, which is above normal for this time of the year, said Storm Center 7

The temperature will fall to 60 overnight and the threat for severe weather will end.

Lingering light showers are possible through Saturday morning, and temperatures will stay near 70. Breezy conditions are expected Saturday afternoon, and gusts could reach up to 25 miles per hour.
