Pyramid Hill receives $45K to develop native gardens

By Hannah Poturalski

Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park, a 265-acre park in Hamilton combining figurative and interpretive art pieces with nature, was recently awarded $45,000 in grants from the Greater Cincinnati Foundation and Ohio Valley Foundation.

Spokesman Joe Statzer said the grants will be used for the restoration of meadows and creeks in the park, located at 1763 Hamilton Cleves Road. The sculpture park is creating a new garden to showcase more than 20 plant varieties native to Southwestern Ohio. The “prairie meadow” will be adjacent to the Pioneer House.

Statzer said $35,000 was awarded from the Greater Cincinnati Foundation and $10,000 from the Ohio Valley Foundation, a Fifth Third Bank agent.

“This is a tremendous gift for the environmental aspect of Pyramid Hill,” Statzer said. “It will allow our many visitors to the park to enjoy the natural resources for many years to come.”

Pyramid Hill is a non-profit park that just celebrated its 15th anniversary.
