Japanese steakhouse-style restaurant to open in Oxford

OXFORD —

To any Miami University student or Oxford resident, it is no secret that Oxford’s uptown restaurant scene has a particular cultural feel to it. That isn’t about to change now.

Opening at 5 W. High Street, at the former Qdoba location, will be Fuji Express, a Japanese steakhouse-style restaurant, serving up authentic dishes and offering a wide variety of menu options.

One distinct facet of Fuji Express will be its fast-food style operation.

“We want to add to the flavor of Oxford,” Yang said. “The reason it is ‘Express’ is because we want to get people in and out and be able to keep up with the constant flow of business.”

The arrival of this new restaurant will give people another option in uptown dining and will be another tool in maintaining a vibrant uptown business district.

“The goal is to have uptown filled with fully-functioning and reputable businesses from end to end,” property owner Mike Burke said.

Another Fuji restaurant is not too far away at Bridgewater Falls east of Hamilton, Fuji Steakhouse, so the franchise is branching out in Southwest Ohio.

“We wanted to try something new, coming to Oxford,” said Kevin Yang, general manager of Fuji Steakhouse. “Miami University is blooming all around, with international students and American students who like different foods.”
