Flood watch includes Butler, Warren counties

A rainy Sunday prompted the National Weather Service to issue a flood watch for Butler and Warren counties

The watch is in effect until 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13. The weather service in Wilmington expanded the flood watch to include Champaign, Clark, Clermont, Greene, Hamilton and Montgomery.

There also are warnings in portions of southeastern Indiana, northern Kentucky and Ohio.

A cold front will push slowly southeast across the area today. Rain showers persisted for much of the day as waves of low pressure rode up along the front. As much as 1.5 inches of rain will be possible through the early evening hours. The ground remains nearly saturated, so much of the new rainfall will run off to area waterways.

A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
