Fire destroys part of home in Ross Twp.

By Staff Report

ROSS TWP. — Multiple fire crews responded to a blaze that destroyed part of a home on Hamilton-New London Road.

Ross Twp. firefighters responded at 4:26 p.m. to a report of smoke from a home in the 2100 block of Hamilton-New London, which sits between Moores and Black roads.

A heavy fire was discovered by the first responders who requested back up from multiple jurisdictions because a water hydrant was not nearby, said Ross Twp. Fire Capt. Jim Fletcher.

No one was injured in the fire. The family had just left the home when the fire started in a first floor bedroom, then spread to the kitchen and an upstairs room, Fletcher said.

The cause is undetermined and the fire resulted in an estimated $75,000 in damages, he said.

Crews from Hamilton, Colerain, Morgan, St. Clair and Hanover townships provided mutual assistance.
