WEST CHESTER TWP. — A West Chester Twp. man was one of two people killed in an early morning crash Saturday on International Boulevard.

Police identified the driver of the blue 2000 Honda Civic as 22-year-old West Chester Twp. resident German Francisco Mejia-Rodriguez, said police Sgt. Matt Tombragel.

The passenger was 34-year-old Springdale resident Jorge Rosalio Rodriguez Lopez, according to police.

Preliminary findings indicate that a combination of speed and alcohol may have contributed to the crash, Tombragel said.

The car was traveling north on International Boulevard when it went off the road and across a parking lot. It then struck two trees, bounced over a curb and then slammed underneath a tractor-trailer parked behind a warehouse at 9842 International Blvd., according to West Chester Twp. spokeswoman Barb Wilson.

The impact shaved the top off the car, which kept rolling until it became wedged underneath a second tractor-trailer.

Police investigators said the two men were killed instantly.

Officers believe the crash may have happened between 4 and 5 a.m. Saturday. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the West Chester Police Department at (513) 777-2231.
