County gets ‘relatively good’ rating on state audit

By Josh Sweigart

Staff Writer

HAMILTON — The state auditor’s office listed only one minor finding in its annual audit of Butler County’s finances released today, Aug. 12.

The audit of the 2009 fiscal year found that the county auditor’s office did not close out balances on inactive purchase orders in a timely manner. This was the only finding, and did not call for the recovery of any funds.

The Butler County auditor’s office responded to the audit saying training will be provided to purchasing agents.

“This is a relatively good, clean audit,” said Julia Debes, spokeswoman for Auditor of State Mary Taylor.
