Festival of Lights

Want to see the Cincinnati Zoo at night? Now you can. Join us as we visit the Cincinnati Zoo for the Festival of Lights. The zoo will be lit up with dazzling holiday lights. You will be able to see all the animals and maybe even a reindeer! It’s a great opportunity for you and your friends to do something new! Please dress appropriately for the weather.

The trip for students in grades 3-5 will be 5 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 15. The fee is $20 for residents, $22 for non-residents. There is a minimum of six, maximum of 10.

Register by Dec. 10 at the Oxford Parks and Recreation Department, 6025 Fairfield Road.

Glow bowling

We’re turning the lights down and the music up from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 13. Students in grades 6-8 can come to Oxford Bowling Lanes and experience an evening of disco lights, music, dancing, prizes and fun. Snacks and drinks will be served.

The fee is $7 per person at the door. Oxford Bowling Lanes is located at 4340 Oxford Reily Road (Ohio 732).

Parent/tot open gym

Bring your little ones, ages 1-4, for this Free Open Gym Time. They will have plenty of room in which to run and exercise. Parent/tot open gym is held on Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m., Nov. 6 to March 26 at the Oxford Parks and Recreation Department, located at 6025 Fairfield Road. Parents must provide supervision for their own children or have a waiver on file authorizing supervision by a guardian 18 years and older.

Letters from Santa

Would you like to have Santa Claus send a personalized letter to your child? Register anytime through Nov. 30 at the Oxford Parks and Recreation Department. The cost is $3 for residents and $3.50 for non-residents.

Gingerbread House contest

The Gingerbread House contest (ages 16 and older) will take place at noon Dec. 1 at the Oxford Community Arts Center, 10 S. College Ave. The contest is being sponsored by the Oxford Parks and Recreation Department. Pick up entry forms and rules at the TRI Community Center, 6025 Fairfield Road, Oxford, or download them at www.cityofoxford.org. Cash prizes are $100 for first place; $50 for second place; and $25 for Viewers Choice. Winners will be announced at 12:15 p.m.

Talawanda Band Boosters present Holiday Craft Market

The Talawanda Band Boosters’ Holiday Craft Market will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Oxford Community Arts Center, 10 S. College Ave. Admission is free. Winter Wonderland

The Oxford Holiday Festival will be held Friday, Nov. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 1.

Friday’s event, scheduled for 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, at the Uptown Parks. There will be horse-drawn carriage rides and the Oxford Community Band and Talawanda School choruses. Santa will arrive by fire truck, kids can visit Santa at Santa’s Courtyard at West Park Place and can visit Santa’s live reindeer, provided by Reindeer and Company, Whitetail Acres Nursery. There will be hot chocolate and treats for sale. The Oxford Lions Club Tree Sale will be in progress.

Saturday’s event, scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Oxford Community Arts Center, will feature the Holiday Craft Market, presented by the Talawanda Band Boosters from 9 to 4. Admission is free. There will be a raffle, with food and crafts for sale. Kids can visit Santa from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be chocolate dreidel making, Hillel Foundation; a gingerbreak house contest at noon; and face painting.

Oxford Senior Citizens Center rentals

Host your next function at the Oxford Seniors Center. Great Room and renovated kitchen are available for $60 per hour, with tables and chairs for up to 150 people. Reserve your date at Oxford Parks and Recreation.
