WORKSHOP

Event focuses on human trafficking

Human trafficking is a form of slavery going on in the United States and Ohio. Every year, according to a 2010 study, about 1,000 American-born children in Ohio are forced to work in the sex trade and about 800 immigrants become victims of sexual exploitation and of forced hard labor.

Would you recognize a victim? Would you know what to do if you did? Because an educated public can help combat these horrific crimes, The League of Women Voters of Oxford is holding a workshop from 7 to 9 p.m. on Nov. 13 entitled “Human Trafficking 101: Victim Identification.” Leading the workshop will be Erin Meyer, The Anti-Human Trafficking Program Manager for the coalition of ESC (End Slavery in Cincinnati) and The Salvation Army.
