HANOVER TWP. —

Multiple fire units responded to a fire at a duplex in Hanover Twp. about 11:15 a.m. today.

Fire was discovered in the upstairs unit at a home in the 1800 block of Vanda Avenue by a resident, who called 911. Everyone got out of the structure safely, according to Hanover Twp. Fire Chief Fred Stitsinger.

“There is heavy damage,” Stitsinger said. A damage estimate was not available this afternoon.

Stitsinger said the cause of the fire is electrical, believed to have started with one of the home’s appliances.

Fire crews from Hanover, Ross and Reily townships extinguished the blaze trucking water to the scene due to lack of hydrants in the area.
