The Office of Community Engagement and Service is sponsoring Hunger + Homelessness Awareness Week from Monday to Nov. 3 in an effort to raise campus wide knowledge about hunger and homelessness locally and globally.

During Hunger + Homelessness Awareness Week, students will have the opportunity to participate in:

• Pledge A Meal: Students can donate a meal from their meal plan to local food banks. Pledges will be collected all week long at many dinning hall locations and online at www.muohio.edu/mycard.

• The Writers Harvest: Faculty and students from the Creative Writing Department will share their work at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 29 at 100 ART.

• Paper Plate Project: Students, faculty and staff can write a fact or experience they have had with homelessness and hunger on a paper plate that will be displayed all week in Shriver near Haines Food Court.

• Cardboard Brigade: Individuals can participate in the cardboard brigade by dropping off their submissions from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in 338 Shriver. Submission criteria is at www.muohio.edu/HHAW. These will be displayed Oct. 31 along slant walk.

• Faces of Homelessness Speaker: Students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to hear a member of the Cincinnati Homeless Coalition speak at 7 p.m. Oct. 30.

• 30-Hour Famine: Students can take part in a 30-hour famine from noon Nov. 2 to 6 p.m. Nov. 3. There will be movies and activities from 7 p.m. to midnight Nov. 2 in the lower level of Alexander Dining Hall. Activities will be offered from noon to 9 p.m. Nov. 3 in the lower level of Alexander Dining Hall.

• Make-A-Difference Day: Students can volunteer beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday in various locations in the Oxford community. More information is available at www.muohio.edu/HHAW.
