OXFORD Twp. —

The Oxford Twp. Police Department cautions drivers that the fall harvest season is approaching and that they should use extra caution and watch for slow-moving farm equipment on the roads and entering and exiting fields.

There was only one crash involving farm equipment and another vehicle last year, according to Oxford Twp. Police, but there were approximately 400 crashes a year in Ohio that involved farm equipment.

Drivers are asked to keep in mind the following tips:

• Use caution when passing farm machinery. Although a tractor may appear to be stopping, it actually might be turning left.

• Decrease your speed as soon as you see farm equipment. The distance between the car and machinery can be deceiving and can come up quickly.

• Be patient. Do not rush when passing. Make certain there are no vehicles approaching from the opposite direction.
