Man guilty of drugging, raping women met online

LEBANON — A Lebanon man could spend almost 30 years in prison now that a Warren County judge found him guilty on various sexual assault charges.

After a short bench trial, Judge Neal Bronson Tuesday morning found Jessie Lee Morsie, Sr., 47, guilty of attempted rape and four counts of sexual battery. He did not convict the man on the two most serious counts of rape. Morsie was accused of sexually assaulting four women in his Lebanon apartment over eight months.

Prosecutor David Fornshell said Morsie met the women over the Internet and when most of them came to his apartment, he drugged and assaulted them.

Fornshell said this case was difficult because the victims had been drugged and couldn’t remember clearly all the events. He said he is “very satisfied” with the outcome.

“Judge Bronson did what a judge or jury are supposed to do and that’s listen to the testimony and make a determination as to what makes the most sense in terms of what charges are most applicable, with respect to the testimony that was given,” he said. “Personally I think he did a good job.”

Morsie’s attorney Nick Graman had asked Bronson to try him separately in each of the four cases but the judge refused. Graman said he was disappointed in outcome, but respects Bronson’s decision.

Morsie was indicted on Feb. 17 and U.S. Marshals arrested him in Lexington, Ky., on Feb. 24.

Bronson revoked Morsie’s $750,000 bond and could sentence him on July 24 to 28 years in prison.
