OXFORD —

Clark and Clark. It sounds like Elk and Elk or some other law firm advertising for your litigation dollars on Channel 9 News, but it’s really two more athletes being inducted into the 2012 class of the Talawanda Athletic Hall of Fame.

Mike Clark (class of 1968) and Heather Clark (2002) made headlines at Talawanda High School almost 25 years apart, but both will be honored together on October 18t in the 14th class of the school district’s Hall of Fame.

Mike Clark was an outstanding three-sport athlete who earned a total of eight letters while participating in cross-country, basketball and baseball. Few Talawanda athletes can boast of nine varsity seasons with team championships in cross country (three), basketball (two) and baseball (one).

Individually, Mike was Butler County Cross Country Champion in 1967, finishing third at districts and ninth in the regional meet. In basketball Mike was first team All-Mid-Miami League both junior and senior seasons, team MVP and leading scorer on the ’67 team.

Heather Clark excelled in one sport, softball, like no other softball pitcher in Talawanda history.

Pitching virtually every game for four seasons at Talawanda, Clark was team MVP and first-team All-MML in her sophomore, junior and senior seasons, and was league MVP in 2002.

After graduation Heather continued her softball career, lettering four years at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. Heather pitched the first perfect game in the history of the school. She was second in school history in games started; third in games completed; second in most innings pitched; and third in most strikeouts. Heather was honored in 2011 with her selection into the Butler County Softball Hall of Fame.

Heather Clark and Mike Clark will join 2012 Hall of Fame classmates John Falk (THS ’67), Kim Finnell (THS ’74), Tom Holmes (THS ‘79-’07), Ryan Holmes (THS ’01) and Dan Zimmerman (THS ’73-‘12) at the 14th annual Banquet and Induction Ceremony on October 18.

The event will be held for the first time in the cafeteria and auditorium of the new high school, beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a reception, followed by the banquet and induction. Inductees also will be recognized at halftime of the football game against Wilmington.
