Citizen of the Year Nominations

By Staff

Nominations still are being accepted for the annual Citizen of the Year program, sponsored by the Oxford Kiwanis Club and The Oxford Press.

The program recognizes those people in the community whose contributions go beyond the duties of their regular employment with the emphasis on volunteer work.

There are two categories. Citizen of the Year is presented to men and women who have contributed materially to making Oxford a better place in which to live, with those contributions being made in the current year. Citizen of the Years honors those whose commitment to community service covers a longer span of time.

Nominations will be accepted until noon on Nov. 26.

Nominations, which must be in writing, should be mailed or dropped off at The Oxford Press, 30 West Park Place No. 2, or emailed to Oxford Press Editor Pete Conrad at Pete.Conrad@coxinc.com.

A letter detailing the person’s contributions should be included to aid the selection committee in fully considering all nominations, as well as preparing a story for the announcement.

Anyone may make nominations, and a single nomination will carry as much weight as repeated nominations for the same individual.

Recipients for 2012 will be announced in the Dec. 28 edition of The Oxford Press.

Previous recipients of the awards are invited to attend the selection committee meeting at 10 a.m. Dec. 1 in The Knolls of Oxford Community Clubhouse. Previous recipients who are able to attend the selection committee meeting are asked to contact Pete Conrad at the email address listed above or by calling (513) 523-4139, ext. 9.
