OXFORD —
The Oxford Kiwanis Club and The Oxford Press are seeking local citizens who have made a difference.
Nominations are being sought for the 61st annual Citizen of the Year program, which will celebrate those people whose impact has made the Oxford community a better place in which to live.
There are two categories for honorees.
Citizen of the Year will be presented to men and women who have contributed materially to the community during the current year.
Citizen of the Years honors those whose commitment to community service covers a longer span of time.
Nominations will be accepted until noon on Nov. 26.
Nominations, which must be in writing, should be mailed or dropped off at The Oxford Press, 30 West Park Place No. 2, or emailed to Oxford Press Editor Pete Conrad at Pete.Conrad@coxinc.com.
A letter detailing the person’s contributions should be included to aid the selection committee in fully considering all nominations, as well as preparing a story for the announcement.
Anyone may make nominations, but a single nomination will carry as much weight as repeated nominations for the same individual.
Recipients for 2012 will be announced in the Dec. 28 edition of The Oxford Press.
The recipients also will be honored at The Oxford Kiwanis Club luncheon at LaRosa’s on Feb. 12, 2013.
At that time, each recipient will be presented with a watercolor of Uptown by local artist Marjorie Bowers. The portrait is available only to recipients of the award.
Previous recipients of the awards are invited to attend the selection committee meeting at 10 a.m. Dec. 1 in The Knolls of Oxford Community Clubhouse. Previous recipients who are able to attend the selection committee meeting are asked to contact Pete Conrad at (513) 523-4139, ext. 9.
