College students earn honors

Miami University senior Austin Fast is one of six Ohio college students who are being named Knight Scholars and receiving a $3,000 scholarship. The students were honored by the John S. Knight Memorial Foundation and Akron Press Club at a scholarship awards ceremony April 23, at the Martin Center on the University of Akron campus.

The scholarships are in memory of John S. Knight and Ludel Suavageot. Knight was a longtime editor of the Akron Beacon Journal and founder of the Knight Newspapers. Suavageot was a public relations professional.

Molly Steinwald, a doctoral student in zoology at Miami University, was elected to the Affiliate Council of the International League of Conservation Photographers.

Affiliates include professionals such as the directors of photography for the National Geographic Society, The Nature Conservancy and Conservation International.
