Oxford man joins ESP board
Don Eberwine of Oxford is one of four Butler County residents who joined the board overseeing the county’s Elderly Services Program earlier this year. Eberwine retired this summer as Horticultural Program Assistant for the Ohio State University.
Previously, he was director of adult education for the Butler County Joint Vocational School District. He is currently involved in the Oxford Farmer’s Market and Oxford United Methodist Church. His past community service includes Hamilton Red Cross Board of Directors; Southwest Regional Water District Trustee/Treasurer.
The other three new members of the board are Deborah Hauenstein of Monroe, a senior account executive with Hospice of Cincinnati; Elaine Hohman of Monroe, who has worked for Champion International, Fort Hamilton Hospital and the Middletown Schools; and Daniel Solazzo of Fairfield, an account manager for Xavier University.
College students earn honors
Miami University senior Austin Fast is one of six Ohio college students who are being named Knight Scholars and receiving a $3,000 scholarship. The students were honored by the John S. Knight Memorial Foundation and Akron Press Club at a scholarship awards ceremony April 23, at the Martin Center on the University of Akron campus.
The scholarships are in memory of John S. Knight and Ludel Suavageot. Knight was a longtime editor of the Akron Beacon Journal and founder of the Knight Newspapers. Suavageot was a public relations professional.
Molly Steinwald, a doctoral student in zoology at Miami University, was elected to the Affiliate Council of the International League of Conservation Photographers.
Affiliates include professionals such as the directors of photography for the National Geographic Society, The Nature Conservancy and Conservation International.
