Oxford Seniors: Weekly highlights and other programs

The highlights for the week of March 11 through 15, 2013 at Oxford Seniors include: Monday – Cooking demonstration at Kroger beginning at 5:00pm, $1/person; Tuesday - Women’s pool at 1:00pm; Wednesday – Premium Outlet Mall Trip leaving the center at 10:30pm. Transportation donation - $8/person; Thursday – Caregivers Support group meets at 1:15pm; Friday – Blood Pressure Screenings from 11 a.m. to noon; St. Patrick’s Day Celebration at 1 p.m. to follow the Weekly Covered Dish Luncheon that begins at noon. All activities and programs are held at Oxford Seniors, unless otherwise noted. The Senior Center is located at 922 Tollgate Drive, Oxford. For more information, call 513.523.8100.

Weekly exercise

Weekly routine activities include: Exercise – Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 9:30am- suggested donation $1/class; Pottery Class – Monday from 10 a.m. to noon - $10 for ball of clay; Top of the Hill Café Luncheons available Monday through Thursday, 12:15 p.m., for adults 60 and older. Suggested donation- $2.50/meal. Make reservations by calling 523.8100; Cards – Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 1:15 p.m., Friday at 2 p.m.; Quilting – Mondays at 1:15 p.m.; French Club – Monday beginning at 3 p.m.; Supper for a Buck –Monday at 5 p.m. - RSVP 513.523.8100; Woodcarving – Tuesday at 1:15 p.m.; Bowling at Oxford Lanes – Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.; Hand & Foot Massages – Wednesday beginning at 9 a.m.. Top of the Hill Café Luncheon

Join us on Monday and Wednesday at noon for our Top of the Hill Café Luncheon. The senior menu for the week is: Monday – Chicken parmesan, noodles & sauce, tossed salad with dressing, dinner roll, fruit crisp Tuesday – Salisbury steak with gravy, whipped potatoes, seasoned broccoli, bread, oranges & bananas, cookies Wednesday – Potato soup, turkey on a bun with mayo, tossed salad with dressing, garden peas, fresh fruit in season Thursday – Roast pork with gravy, sweet potato pudding, corn, biscuit, fruited ambrosia salad, vanilla pudding. Reservations to attend the congregate meal may be made by calling 523-8100. Suggested donation for the meal is $2.50.

Dinner and shopping

Senior Transportation hours are 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Mondays: Enjoy an early dinner, go shopping, visiting, etc. Transportation hours on Tuesdays through Fridays are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the last appointment scheduled at 3p.m. Rides are also available on Sundays, 9 a.m. to noon. Senior transportation is offered for adults 60 years of age or older or for disabled of any age. Priority is given to medical appointments but rides can also be scheduled to go shopping, to the hairdresser, out to eat, visiting, etc. Rides should be scheduled 24-hours in advance by calling 513.523.1717. Suggested donation for a one-way trip is $1.50, $3/round trip.

Other Supportive Services available through the Center include: Adult Day Care - offered at 420 South Campus Avenue (fellowship hall of the Faith Lutheran Church). Contact Debbie Curry, LPN at 513.523.0464 for more information about this service. Home Delivered Meals - available through the Center, can be arranged by contacting the Elderly Services Program (ESP) intake department at 1.800.215.5305 or 868.9281. Outreach – help with Medicare, insurance, housing, support in the community. Call 513.523.8100 to make an appointment.
