Virtual courses open to young parents

COLUMBUS — Virtual Community School of Ohio now offers a Parent and Successful Student (PASS) program focused on balancing the responsibilities of being a successful parent as well as student. Designed for parents or parents-to-be, PASS students will earn school credit while focusing on topics such as basic child care, surviving and succeeding in the real world and planning for a bright future.

VCS Ohio’s online curriculum allows students to set their own schedule, work at their own pace and access courses 24 hours-a-day, eliminating the need for child care and giving the flexibility required for a part-time job. VCS is free and provides all computer equipment and internet access, giving young parents an opportunity to earn a high school diploma while still being present in their children’s lives. To be eligible for the PASS program, the student must be enrolled full-time at VCS Ohio and be a parent or expectant parent. Students must be motivated to log in to school, participate and make academic progress toward graduation. This program is for mothers and fathers. Virtual Community School of Ohio offers students in grades K-12 an accredited, online education from the comfort and safety of their home.
