OXFORD — More than 100 people from the Oxford community turned out for the The Great Soups Fundraising Dinner at the Holy Trinity Church on March 4.

The event was run by and benefited Oxford’s local/organic cooperative grocery store, MOON Co-Op, which has been open for about a year and a half. The dinner featured wholesome soups, salads, and desserts that were all donated and prepared by members of the community, said Spencer Mapes, who is one of MOON’s member/owners.

“One of MOON’s goals is to educate consumers and producers about sustainable principles and choices as well as informing consumers where their food comes from and how it is produced,” Mapes said. “MOON Co-op is focused on building strong relationships with our local farmers and producers to showcase their quality products at our store as we continue to grow our membership, one owner at a time.

“We are open to the public and invite you to shop at our community market for fresh, local, organic and/or natural food and other products. “

MOON Co-Op is owned by about 750 member-owners and located on 512 S Locust St.
