High Street Health is fast food for smart people and runs on the motto: Hang out, Have Fun,
Be Healthy.

In a culture of coffee addicts, fast food junkies and gym rats, High Street Health is hoping to help the Oxford community lose, gain or maintain weight, be nutritious and have more energy the healthy way.

“I want Oxford to know there is an answer and help available to change people’s lives for the better,” said owner Justine Kammer, a 2008 Miami University graduate with a theatre and history degree.

Kammer wanted to bring good nutrition and help people make better choices in Oxford, so she opened High Street Health on 111 W. High St. on Sept. 23 with the ribbon cutting ceremony on Oct. 1.

“High Street Health is a like a Smoothie King meets GNC meets a coffee shop,” Kammer said. “People can come here to find the focus they need to study without all that sugar or the high prices.”

According to Kammer, High Street Health specializes in person wellness coaching, personal health consults, wellness profiles, and weightloss/fitness challenges. The store sells products from their parent company Herbalife including healthy shakes, energy boosting teas, vitamins, protein bars, skincare products and fragrances.

Kammer first got involved in the program when she needed to lose weight in order to become an actress. Using these products, she lost 47 pounds in five months, she said. Because of her results, she became passionate about the products and opened the store.

“I felt empowered after losing the weight and I wanted to empower others,” Kammer said. “When you make your body work for you, you can do amazing things.”

Kammer said that these products lead to a good income, but that is not her first priority.

“I do not do this to make money, I do this to help people. Knowing that I can do this everyday and help people is an incredible feeling,” Kammer said.

According to Kammer, the store has free Wi-Fi and a daily membership of $5.50 that includes an American Medical Association approved 16-ounce balanced meal shake, a 16-ounce tea described as “rocket fuel for humans,” and a 2-ounce shot of aloe that is a digestive health aid.

High Street Health also sponsors Weight Loss and Fitness Challenges with cash prizes and hosts Organization/Business Appreciation Days where groups can come in and try all the products for free.

Kammer said her store is all about giving back to the community through giving away free samples and sponsoring local programs like “Paint the Town Red” and Talawanda High School’s Volley for a Cure.

“We have had so much community support thus far and it has been great,” Kammer said. “I want people to understand that there is a sense of community here, and you can come here and not be judged.”
