Dayton-based Buckeye Vodka has pledged up to $10,000 to local veterans’ charities in honor of Memorial Day, with donations coming in response to Facebook “likes,” according to a news release from the company.

To participate, individuals are asked to “Like” the Buckeye Vodka page on Facebook by Friday, June 1, 2012. For each new “Like,” the company will donate 50 cents, up to $10,000, as part of its first statewide charitable initiative, company officials said.

“We recognize the sacrifice our veterans and their families have made to protect the freedom we enjoy in our country. We’re proud to help local veterans’ groups in providing important services to those affected by the loss of a loved one in the United States Armed Services,” said Jim Finke, CEO of Crystal Spirits, LLC, parent company of Buckeye Vodka.

In addition to “Liking” the page, visitors to the Buckeye Vodka Facebook page may suggest veterans’ organizations to which Buckeye Vodka can contribute. All organizations will be considered for a gift, but company officials said they cannot guarantee a distribution for each and every entry.

Buckeye Vodka launched in April 2011.
