Despite the struggling economy, it’s estimated that Americans spent approximately $45.5 billion on their pets in 2009. Pet food accounted for nearly 39 percent of those sales, or $17.56 billion, according to the American Pet Products Association.

In this recession, how have you been spending money to pamper your pet? Are you still taking them to the groomer? Are you using coupons to buy name-brand pet food? Or are you spending the same you always do on your pets?

We want to talk to you about your pet spending habits for an upcoming article in the newspaper. We would also like to take a picture of you with your pet. To participate, submit your comments to reporter Jessica Heffner at jheffner@coxohio.com or call (513) 705-2843.

This is for Butler and Warren County residents only. This information will be used for an article so be sure to include your full name, pet’s name and breed and the city where you reside.
