A Miami University student was taken to an Oxford hospital after he was reportedly shoved through the window of a sandwich shop during a Nov. 4 brawl.

The 20-year-old told police he was pushed from behind during a fight with an unknown group of males inside of Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches, located at 23 E. High St. Police found the student and two friends inside the entryway of a nearby building after following them from the sub shop.

Police said the 20-year-old was laying on the ground and had blood all over him, but did not know who was responsible for the assault. The student was clearly in pain, police said, and called in the Oxford Life Squad to transport him to McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital.

His friends reportedly tried to talk him out of going to the hospital multiple times, telling him he was alright and did not need medical attention. One of the friends, a 21-year-old Milford resident, allegedly took the injured subject to the second story landing of the building and encouraged him to get away from police. The friend had just turned 21 that night and the group of men were out in celebration of his birthday, according to police.

The 21-year-old was reportedly uncooperative with officers, continually yelling that he had done nothing wrong. Nathan W. West, 1044 David Court, Milford, was charged with obstruction official business and public intoxication.

Officers were eventually able to get the 20-year-old to go to the hospital, where he reportedly provided an emergency room nurse with a fake driver’s license. Sean M. Parker, 5094 Barnwood Court, Mason, Ohio, was issue a citation for certain acts prohibited and was released to hospital staff.

The third subject involved in the incident claimed his nose had been broken during the fight. The man claiming to have been punched provided officers with a driver’s license showing him to be over 21, but an officer who recognized him from a previous arrest said she knew he was under the legal age.

Officers said the man was actually carrying a pair of fake ID’s, attempting to hide one of the cards by sitting on top of it. Robert R. Kuzner, 3842 Wild Cherry Way, Mason, Ohio, was charged with certain acts prohibited and offenses involving underage persons.
