OXFORD — Oxford police made their first arrests from posting surveillance video online at Facebook.com.
Police received a tip after someone watched the video about two suspects wanted for allegedly stealing $150 of cigars from United Dairy Farmers, said police Sgt. Jim Squance.
“We put the surveillance tape on the police Facebook (account) and somebody came forward on Dec. 30 and identified the guys,” he said.
Officers executed a search warrant on Dec. 31 at a Collins Street residence, according to police reports. Officers found two bags of marijuana, one with about 44 grams and one with 5 grams, a marijuana vaporizer, a grinder with marijuana residue and digital scales, according to police reports.
Storm Billingsley, 21, was charged with misdemeanor counts of drug abuse, drug paraphernalia and theft, according to police reports.
Rodney Shaw Jr., 21, was charged with theft and also found to have an active warrant from Fairfield, according to police reports.
