HAMILTON — Police have found a suspect wanted in connection with one of several street robberies that took place this winter in Hamilton.

Anthony Barefield, a resident of 11th Street, was found Monday afternoon, March 15, a block away from the police station on Hanover Street.

Officers were preparing to stop a car about 12:15 p.m. when the passenger jumped out and began running. Barefield was chased by police to an apartment building on Monument Street where he was found hiding, according to Sgt. Craig Bucheit.

Barefield, 19, is charged with obstructing official business, aggravated robbery and having weapons under disability for allegedly robbing a person at gunpoint in November, according to Butler County Jail records.

Investigators said Barefield may be part of a group that committed several armed street robberies in Hamilton. Other suspects were arrested in late January.
