CINCINNATI — A Cincinnati man was sentenced Monday to 32 years in prison for failing to tell his sexual partners he had tested positive for HIV.
Andre Davis, 29, who faces similar charges in Butler and Warren counties, was sentenced in a Hamilton County courtroom. A jury convicted him in November on 14 counts of felonious assault.
The Hamilton County prosecutors said Davis violated state law by not telling or lying to a dozen sex partners about his HIV status. Davis, a former pro wrestler, used the stage names Gangsta of Love and Sweet Sexy Sensation.
Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell said he has four cases against Davis for allegedly having unprotected sex with women in Warren County between Dec. 1, 2010 and Jan. 31, 2011. Butler County Prosecutor Mike Gmoser said Davis is accused of having sex with one woman in Butler County.
The judge in Hamilton County did not allow the jurors to hear whether any of the victims became infected. Fornshell and Gmoser both said judges here might rule differently on that issue, but the victims’ HIV status is not relevant to the charges Davis is facing.
