OXFORD — Miami University police are investigating after a female student reported a man grabbed her from behind while she was in the shower in Richard Hall.
The 21-year-old student suffered cuts to her fingers and lip from her own shaving razor in a struggle before the man let her go and left the shower around 3:40 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, according to a campus crime alert.
The suspect is described only as a black male, possibly wearing a T-shirt and shorts or athletic pants, according to Miami police.
Officers have been going door to door in the residence hall asking students if they’ve seen anyone or anything suspicious, said Miami police Capt. Jason Willis.
They’re also reviewing records on who entered the building based on student IDs swiped at the doors, Willis said.
“Because of the lack of description we got, it’s unknown whether this person was a student or student aged,” Willis said.
