  A Marine, Cpl. Joshua Hartzell (22), from Hamilton and a 2006 graduate of Ross High School was found dead in North Carolina on Friday, Nov. 6, a victim of an apparent homicide.

• Bodies found shot to death

  The bodies of a man and woman found shot to death in the parking lot of Jellybean Junction daycare facility in Fairfield had gunshot wounds to the head. The bodies were discovered by a lawncare service employee in a Jeep Cherokee at Mack and Winton Roads around 9:15 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26 -- three hours after the daycare center opened.

• Biggest heroin bust in county history

  The Butler County Sheriff's department narcotics unit in conjunction the Clermont County Sheriff's department arrested three suspects Tuesday, September 1, 2009, in the biggest heroin bust in Butler County history. The arrest confiscated around $200,000 worth of heroin, $66,000 in cash and 2 hand guns.

  Fairfield undercover agents assisted the Hamilton Police Vice Section in making six arrests as part of a prostitution sting on the East Side, according to Hamilton police spokesman Rich Burkhardt.

  Butler County Sheriffs deputies posing as a 14-year-old girl, collected enough evidence to arrest six area men for allegedly showing up to meet a minor for sex. The arrests were made from March 24, 2009 to July 9, 2009.
