A fight over a man dancing with another man’s sister ended with both men being treated at the hospital and one charged with a felony, according to Oxford police.

Davie Villanueva, 36, of Oxford, was charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony, just before 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, for allegedly punching and breaking a bottle over the head of a man who he told police approached him on the dance floor and began pushing him.

Villanueva said he couldn’t hear what the man was saying. Police said the man was upset that Villanueva was dancing with his sister, a Miami University student.

Based on physical evidence and witness statements, Villanueva was charged, according to a police report. He was treated at the hospital and then booked into Butler County Jail, according to the report.
