A 16-year-old who was visiting his sister at Miami University on Nov. 8 was reportedly hauled off to a juvenile detention center after officers found him passed out in front of an Oxford residence.

Police said a group was gathered around the juvenile, whose pants were unzipped and appeared to have urinated on himself. He told officers his age and that he was visiting his sister, who is a Miami University student. The juvenile had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage an was unable to stand, according to reports.

The juvenile admitted to drinking “five or six big beers” and was taken into police custody while officers attempted to contact his parents in Illinois. While police tried to get a hold of his parents, he repeatedly tried to curl up in a fetal position on the floor and go to sleep, police said.

After trying unsuccessfully to reach the boy’s parents and sister by phone, Miami University police were sent to the sister’s dorm in hopes of finding her. Police said she was also intoxicated and was unable to take custody of her brother.

The 16-year-old was charged with offenses involving underage persons and public intoxication and was taken to the Butler County Juvenile Detention Center.
