Road reopened after beer truck overturned

Staff Report

Friday, April 03, 2009

ST. CLAIR TWP. — An overturned beer truck shut down a road for several hours early this morning, April 3, according to the Butler County Sheriff's Office.

The truck overturned at around 1:15 a.m. on Riverside Drive, just south of Wehr Road, according Chris Petrocy, of the Butler County Engineer's Office.

The driver, whose name was not released, was injured and transported to the Atrium Medical Center, according to the Butler County Sheriff's Office. He was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency crews, dispatchers said.

Riverside reopened at around 8:15 a.m. Contrary to some reports, no beer bottles spilled onto the roadway, Petrocy said. A crew from the engineer's office was dispatched to facilitate the road closing, which was necessary because it took at least two wreckers to upright the beer truck.
