Former MU professor wins Crystal Apple Award
Glenn Julian, of Oxford, has received the prestigious Crystal Apple Award from Michigan State University's College of Education.
Julian was among 30 outstanding educators to receive the honor during the Crystal Apple Awards dinner Nov. 14.
Julian said his students were the most important "product" of his research and teaching, and he used innovative techniques to be sure "the light came on" in their learning. A physics professor for 33 years, Julian made lectures on complex topics interactive by asking students to graph or sketch answers in response to demonstrations. Julian, who retired in 2001, enjoyed collaborations with colleagues on a series of National Science Foundation funded projects, including the development of a nationally recognized undergraduate course series.
