Medical benefit Sunday for Lori Bower

Friday, September 12, 2008

Friends and family of Lori Bower will host a benefit from 1 to 10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, at the Indian Creek Tavern to help to offset insurmountable medical bills the 24-year-old incurred following injuries suffered in a car accident on the stormy evening of June 3.

She received severe injuries, which included three broken vertebrae in her neck, a skull fracture, brain hemorrhage, temporary nerve damage, a dissected vertebral artery and major contusions. She was taken to University Hospital where she had three neck surgeries in the month of June. She was just taken off IV Therapy, trying to recover from a bone infection.

There will be an admission fee of $15 at the benefit Sunday, which includes food and soft drinks.

The day will feature bucket raffles, split-the-pot, silent auction items (including such things as a custom made acoustic guitar, overnight stay at the luxurious Elms Hotel in Oxford, Bengals' tickets and parking pass, authentic Arroyo Reds jersey and much more).

Bucket raffles will include gift certificates to local restaurants and other wonderful gifts. First bucket raffle and split-the-pot drawing is at 5 p.m., second bucket raffle drawing is at 6:30 p.m., and the silent auction ends at 7 p.m.

Live Bands include Poker Face (1:45 to 3 p.m.), Finale (3:30 to 4:45), Woolum Bros. Bluegrass Band (5:15 to 6:30) and The Ryan Broshear Band w/Les Estep (7:30 to 10).

Monetary donations may be sent to: First Financial Bank, P. O. Box 476, Hamilton, OH 45012, Attn.: Terri Ziepfel (checks made payable to Lori Bower Medical Account).

Lori is a Talawanda High School graduate and is a nursing major at Miami University.
