FedEx expects to have its busiest delivery day of the year today.
Company officials said about 300,000 team members will deliver millions of packages. An estimated 19 million packages are expected to be shipped, up 10 percent from the busiest day in 2011.
E-commerce has driven deliveries up.
“E-tailers will feed the FedEx Ground and FedEx SmartPost networks on “Green Monday,” which falls on the second Monday of December and has become one of the most lucrative days of the year for retail companies,” the release said. “In 2011, online shoppers spent more than $1.1 billion on Green Monday, according to the analysts at comScore.”
