Lakota West Basketball Camps and Leagues forming

The Lakota West boys basketball camp will be held at Lakota West High School from June 9-13. Boys entering grades 3-6 will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon and boys entering grades 7-10 will be from 1 to 4:30 p.m.

The Lakota West boys basketball leagues will be held at Lakota Plains Jr. High on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 17- July 17. Boys entering 3rd and 4th grade play from 8:30-10 a.m., 5th and 6th grade from 10 a.m.-noon and 7th and 8th grade from 1:15-3:15 p.m.

Pete Rose Jr. and Sr. to conduct hitting camp

Pete Rose Jr. along with the "Hit King" Pete Rose Sr. will conduct a two day father and son hitting camp from 1 to 5 p.m. April 12-13 at Wall 2 Wall Sports, 846 Reading Road, Mason. During the camp, both father and son will go through a series of 40 drills, breaking down the swing mechanics. The camp staff will consist of former professional players, college and high school coaches.

Greater Cincinnati Boys Basketball Camp organized

All Day Boys Basketball Camp will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 7-10 at Sycamore High School, featuring instruction from the best high school head coaches in the Greater Cincinnati Area. Daily activities include fundamental skill instruction, 3 on 3 and 5 on 5 Team Play, games, contests and other fun activities. Each participant receives camp T-shirt, basketball, and 24 hours of expert instruction. Cost of the four-day camp is $120. Lakota hosting HOF inductions

The Lakota Athletic Department announces the 10th installment to the Lakota Athletic Hall of Fame. This class of Lakota athletic honorees will be inducted at a formal ceremony April 3rd, 2008 at the Wetherington Country Club beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $25 with a deadline of March 27th .

Courts 4 Sports now registering for NFL Youth Flag Football

McGee Athletics is excited to bring NFL Flag Football back to area youth. Fall 2007 proved to be great fun for more than 70 players.

Fee is $75 per player; for boys and girls ages 5-15, everyone plays, no exceptions. Registration closes March 28. League cost covers jersey, referee and league fees.

The Spring 2008 league begins April 5 and will run for nine weeks. Non contact fun; your children will enjoy all the benefits of learning the game of football, without making contact with their opponent. Players will learn teamwork, respect and perseverance while having fun. Most games and practices will be held on the field at the Courts4Sports complex.

Lakota East plans Annual Golf Scramble

Lakota East High School is having its 10th Annual Golf Scramble at

Weatherwax Golf Course on May 10. Proceeds for the tournament benefit the Lakota East Golf Program including winter and in-season practice time, summer golf tournaments, uniforms and equipment and a second season for our Varsity "B" Team. The tournament is a scramble format with 4 person teams. Cost is $80 per player, (Price includes 18 holes, range balls, cart, and awards dinner after the event.) Tee times start at approximately 11:45 a.m. with a 30-team limit.

Lakota West High School's Girls Basketball Camp of Champions will be held this summer. FireBird Hoops camp boosts an 8:1 Coach to Camper ratio and competitive levels for all players. Kings Athletic Boosters announce Tom Higgins Scholarship

The Kings Athletic Booster Club (KABC) announces the inaugural year of the KABC/Tom Higgins Memorial Scholarship Fund. This scholarship is a joint venture between the Kings Athletic Booster Club and the family of Tom Higgins. The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize committed athletes and honor the memory of the former principal who was a strong advocate of High School Athletics during his 37 years of being in education. Tom Higgins was the Principal at Kings High School from 2002 until 2005 before he suddenly passed away at the start of the 2005 school year. He was a friend, a sports fan, a leader, an educator and most important a devoted family man.

This scholarship will offer one male and one female athlete $500. Candidates must have participated in athletics all 4 years of high school, must be a graduating senior with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and be attending a 4 year college or university. Three letters of reference and a one page essay must accompany all applicants. Applications are available at the Kings High School Guidance Office as well as the Kings Athletic Office. Junior Tennis Tournaments organized

Northern Cincinnati Basketball Camps at Kings High School

Our summer camps are instructional camps, with the emphasis on learning fundamentals and self-improvement drills. The shooting camp is the only shooting camp in Cincy. Shooting technique, drills, and shooting workouts will be emphasized at our camp. Our camp is staffed completely by adult coaches.

Lakota East plans boys basketball summer camps

We are excited about our summer camp plans. Our summer camp will place an emphasis on offensive fundamentals. Summer is the time when your shooting, passing and dribbling skills need to improve. We also will learn offensive and defensive team concepts that are important for success.

Our camp staff will consist of East coaches and players. All 2008 Hawk Basketball Camps are at Lakota East High School.

Session 1: 1-4:30 p.m. June 9-12, Grades 3-6, cost is $90.

Session 2: 1-4:30 p.m. June 16-19, Grades 7-9, cost is $90.

Nike Tennis Camp moves to new location

After seven successful years at Miami University, Nike Tennis Camp will be moving to Ohio University in Athens. The Nike Tennis Camp will run for four weeks for the summer 2008: June 15-20, June 21-26, July 13-18, and July 19-24.

Nike Tennis Camp Ohio University will offer both overnight and extended day programs for all ability levels, boys and girls, ages 9-18. The June 15 week will also include a special tournament training program focusing on strategy and match-play situations.

Great Miami Valley Y registering Adult Coed Flag Football

The Great Miami Valley YMCA Association is taking registrations until March 30 for its Spring Adult Coed Flag Football League. The league runs from April 5 to May 24 with all games from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. Teams will play six weeks of regular season play and two weeks of tournament play. The cost of the league is $350 for teams or $45 for individuals. The roster consists of 12 players with 8 players (5 male and 3 females) on the field at a time. The Mason Youth Organization is looking for sponsors for the 2008 baseball/softball season. MYO sponsorship is a great opportunity for companies and local organizations to show their support for the youth of Mason and Deerfield Twp.

The cost to sponsor a team is $200. The company name and logo will be printed on the front of player shirts. The company also will receive a team picture plaque at the end of the year thanking them for their support.

MYO also will display the company's name and provide a link to the company's Web site on the MYO Web site. MYO will distribute coupon sheets or flyers, if supplied in advance by the comapny, about your business to MYO families at the beginning of the season.

TPC River's Bend to host Junior PGA Championship

The PGA of America has announced that the 33rd Junior PGA Championship will be contested Aug. 13-16 at the PGA TOUR's TPC River's Bend in Maineville.

Chris Wood, PGA Professional, General Manager and Director of Golf at TPC River's Bend, expressed his eagerness to bring the PGA Junior Championship to the Greater Cincinnati area. "Our club wants to host the biggest and best," he said. "Anytime a club and its members are able to host an event like this, it is nothing short of great."

Established in 1976, The Junior PGA Championship has traditionally produced unforgettable golf performances, bringing together the best junior golfers from around the country to compete for the Jack Nicklaus Trophy in the boys' division and the Patty Berg Trophy in the girls' division.
