GIRLS SOCCER
FENWICK 2, COLUMBUS BEXLEY 0: Sydney Neal and Shannon Donoher had goals Saturday, Sept. 13, as the visiting Falcons, ranked seventh in the state in Division II, knocked off No. 5 Bexley. Amanda Wolski chipped in an assist, and goalie Mary Turvy marked four saves. Both teams are 6-2. Fenwick travels to McNicholas on Monday.
EDGEWOOD 2, MADISON 1: The visiting Cougars moved to 4-3-1 on Saturday as Sara Pearson had a goal and an assist. Brooke Haynes also marked a goal, and Malynda Messer had an assist. Defensive standouts included Megan Sawtelle, Miranda Milholland and Holly Campbell. Allison Bundy scored for the Mohawks (5-2-1). Both teams play Tuesday, Edgewood at Ross and Madison at Carlisle.
LAKOTA EAST 3, SPRINGBORO 1: Abbie Schauble scored two goals and Katrina Echternacht added one Saturday for visiting East (3-4-1), which got assists from Megan Scheitlin, Andi Martin and Rebeckah Sepela. Macie Smith scored for the Panthers (3-6-1). The Thunderhawks travel to Lakota West on Tuesday.
VOLLEYBALL
INDIANS PLACE SECOND: Carlisle (5-5) took second place in the Franklin Invitational on Saturday. The Indians beat Dayton Stebbins 25-23, 25-12, led by Jordan Johnson (five aces), Samantha Shelton (five kills) and Jessica Curtis (eight assists). Carlisle also beat Franklin 20-25, 25-17, 25-8, led by Johnson (six aces), Shelton (14 kills, five digs) and Abby Hamilton (11 assists). The Indians lost to Tri-County North 25-14, 25-17 and were led by Elizabeth McKinney (two aces), Shelton (two kills, five digs) and Hamilton (three assists).
