East's Giese hitting hot in delayed sectional game

WEST CHESTER TWP. — The only thing the rain couldn't stop Monday was David Giese's bat.
The Lakota East senior drove in four runs and scored twice in his first three plate appearances to stake the Thunderhawks to a 7-2 lead over Princeton in a rain delayed Division I sectional game.

The game was called after 3 1/2 innings and will resume today at 4:30 p.m. at Lakota West.
Giese hit a two run homer to right field in his second at bat and then knocked in two more with a triple in the bottom of the third inning.
"I'm just staying back on the ball," Giese said. "I've been practicing everyday. Going extra time in the cages, doing soft toss, whenever I have the chance I go hit a few."
Giese reached on error his first time up and scored a run.
"We can put a lot of pressure on people when we can go David, Jared (Riley) and Colt (Cattani) at the top," East coach Ray Hamilton said.
Jeff Nilsen threw four innings for East allowing two runs on five hits and may return to complete the game today.
"We feel pretty good about going into (today). I think a lot of it depends on whether Jeff can come back because he didn't throw very many pitches," Hamilton said.
And if Nilsen can't resume the game.
"I'm not sure right now. It's something we're going to have to talk about," Hamilton said.
Princeton left-hander Marcus Davis allowed seven runs on four hits, but his defense commited five errors. He struck out five in three innings.
