Wayne High School scored two runs in its final at-bat to knock off Springfield North 2-1 in baseball action Monday night, May 5. Shortstop Jesse Solomon laced a two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the seventh for the Warriors (10-9). North drops to 15-8.

Centerville 4, Fairmont 1: Jake Wilson's home run for the Elks (13-4) was enough support to give Steve Lakke his fifth win.

Extras

Springboro 10, Miamisburg 0: Senior Chuck Ghysels hurled a one-hitter, striking out 12 in five innings as Springboro (20-4) blanked Miamisburg.

Valley View 19, West Carrollton 9: Valley View's Brian Blasik blasted his seventh home run this season and finished a single short of the cycle. David Day improved to 3-0 on the mound for the Spartans (15-3). Kaleb Enterman homered and drove in four runs for the Pirates.

Softball

Vandalia Butler 6, Piqua 1: Junior Taylor Western pitched a complete game five-hitter and clubbed a three-run home run to lead Vandalia Butler (10-8) over Piqua.

Beavercreek 18, South 0: Suzanne Witt pitched a one-hitter for the Beavers (13-7). Teammate Carly Ivan had two doubles, a triple, a home run and six RBIs.

Boys tennis

Vandalia Butler 4, Beavercreek 1: Butler (13-2) defeated Beavercreek (15-3) in a showdown of Division I tennis powers. Andy Jackson defeated Tony Walters 6-2, 6-0 at first singles to lead the Aviators. The Beavers' lone win came from Alex Wang at second singles, defeating Colin Imwalle 6-1, 6-3.
