SHARONVILLE — Princeton High School didn't miss a beat Friday night. Spencer Ware, Jeff Duckworth and the Vikings football team did what they do best — pass.

While attempting to put aside an alleged shooting threat on the school early Friday morning, Princeton airmailed Greater Miami Conference foe Hamilton a 43-19 drubbing at Viking Stadium.

"Our main thing was to just try and stay focused," said Duckworth, a junior receiver. "We kept playing it off as if it was a regular school day, and we played it off as if it was a regular football night."

"It got to the field a little bit, but we played like it didn't affect us," added Ware, Princeton's sophomore quarterback. "We just went out there and did our thing."

Big Blue struggled to figure out the Vikings' aerial attack all night, as Ware connected on 20-of-28 passes for 358 yards, including TD connections to Duckworth from 42, 48 and 33 yards out. Ware tossed a total of five touchdowns, a Princeton school record.

"(Ware) is an outstanding player, he made some big plays," said Hamilton coach Jim Place, whose Big Blue fell to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the GMC. "We just didn't execute. We need to find out how to make big plays and take some of them to the house."

Princeton (4-1, 2-0) used a mixture of out-routes and streaks, which confused the Big Blue secondary.

"We've got a few weapons on this team," Vikings coach Bill Leach said. "We've got depth at running back and especially at wide out. We're good at the skill spots."

Ware's second touchdown strike came with 1:54 left in the first quarter. Duckworth ran an up-and-go route, snagging a pass that he pinned to his back for a dramatic 48-yard score that put the Vikings up 15-0.

After tossing an interception that was taken back for a Princeton score, HHS quarterback Tyler Walker hit Marquis Powell with a 24-yard TD pass, making it 22-6 just before the halftime break.

Ware's other TD hookups were to Jordan Hopgood (79 yards) and B.J. Willis (7 yards), both in the second half.

Denicos Allen returned a kickoff for an 85-yard score late in the third, while Marquis Givens tacked on a 1-yard plunge for HHS at the 11:22 mark of the final period.

Senior running back Kenny Veal rushed for 112 yards on 17 carries to lead Hamilton. Big Blue will host Oak Hills for Homecoming next Friday.
