CLEARCREEK TWP., Warren County — The Clearcreek Twp. Police Department has been accepted by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies to seek accreditation.

The Clearcreek Twp. trustees unanimously approved Police Chief John D. Terrill's request to apply for accreditation.

Extras

The Clearcreek Twp. Police Department had previously received accreditation in March 1996. At that time it was the smallest CALEA accredited agency in the United States. But the accreditation status was allowed to expire.

There are benefits for both the department and the citizens. Accreditation improves the delivery of public safety services, primarily by maintaining standards and goals of strengthening crime prevention, establishing fair and nondiscriminatory personnel practices and improving service delivery.

Sgt. Wallace Stacy will be heading up the accreditation effort as accreditation manager.

His duties will include reviewing current policies and procedures and making any revisions for CALEA compliance.

Stacy will serve as the liaison between the CALEA Commission and the police department throughout the process.

Terrill said he is proud of his department and hopes to complete the process by July 2010.

Terrill said he "believes that this process will serve to enhance the professionalism of the Clearcreek Twp. Police Department and give township residents another reason to be proud of its police department."
